“We pledged to form a government for the citizens, one whose doors are open and that is close to and always on the side of the people,” declared President-elect Gabriel Boric. He also described his cabinet as being generationally and politically diverse, thereby responding to the country’s diversity. He also announced that bilateral meetings between the outgoing and incoming ministers will begin on February 21.

The president-elect concluded his speech by stating that “the mandate of the ministers present here today is clear. To promote changes and transformations that will allow for justice and dignity, that culture and sports not be afterthoughts, that the people be protagonists in their own lives, and that the decisions about the territories not be made in an office in downtown Santiago, that we all may feel part of a society that is respectful of human rights everywhere, and a Chile that holds us, cares for us and aspires to harmony.”

The following is an analysis, put together by Azerta’s Public Affairs Department, of President-elect Gabriel Boric’s new ministerial cabinet and of how his nominations compare to those of previous governments.
